Based on the emerging needs of the mid-tier marketing services business segment, Acxiom plans to expand its online and offline solutions to meet the needs of this market.
For 35 years Acxiom has served the world’s largest companies with custom, mission-critical marketing solutions. Acxiom built and manages more than double the number of databases of its next largest competitor, and within the past 12 months completed one trillion customer updates on behalf of clients.
“While we currently serve both large and small businesses, we realize that the mid-tier market has specialized multi-channel marketing needs,” said Rich Howe, Acxiom Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer. “We are accelerating our focus in this mid-tier arena by bringing to market a prepackaged offering that can be delivered within 60 days.”
“In addition to scaling our marketing database solutions, another priority is to help clients integrate more fully their online and offline marketing,” said Howe. He noted that companies seek an optimal multi-channel mix of offline and online targeted advertising with the goals of reducing cost, increasing response rates and making advertising relevant to individual consumers. Real-time customer engagement is possible today via web, call center and point-of-sale resources, enabling continuous customer relationships across touch points.
During 2007 Acxiom expanded its digital marketing capabilities through acquisition and new product development. This happened during a period of significant growth of online advertising which reached $10 billion in the first half of 2007, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
In October Acxiom announced two new online advertising targeting solutions. Relevance-X LifeStage enables online relevant advertising at the household level based on the PersonicX segmentation system while maintaining anonymity. The other online solution is Relevance-X Echo which allows businesses to retarget advertising across a network based on an incomplete transaction on their own web site.
Also new to the market in October was InfoBase-X, Acxiom’s newest consumer database with 133 million households, including attitudinal, behavioral and interest data which enables predictive modeling.
“Our heritage, scale and industry experience in direct marketing applications are clearly applicable in addressing the enormously complex needs of multi-channel marketers,” noted Lee Hodges, Acxiom Services Division Leader. “The fact that we managed 40,000 digital campaigns this year – which included delivery of 8 billion personalized e-mails – demonstrates emerging channel capabilities that include web page personalization, search targeting and personalized e-marketing.”
Hodges added that Acxiom has undertaken over 1,000 strategic consulting engagements to assess clients’ enterprise-wide needs, compare results to industry-specific benchmarks and recommend industry solutions that increase revenue and profit and reduce risk. Many of those are premeditated, pre-built industry-specific approaches to solving business problems.
“While we have a broad spectrum of marketing, risk and IT capabilities, we extend our capabilities further through partners such as Oracle, SAP, EMC and D&B,” said Howe. “These respected companies expand our service delivery with best-of-breed business data, software and hardware.”
“Our new capabilities uniquely position our clients vis-à-vis their respective competitors,” said Howe. “We’re not only helping clients optimize existing marketing spend, but also to utilize consumer intelligence across the enterprise, thereby maximizing lifetime customer value.”
