Providing Data: Revealing the Spheres of Trust

How to ethically maintain the confidence of your customers

Now more than ever, consumers are volunteering personal information in exchange for convenience and services. Businesses need to ensure that they are not pushing people outside their comfort zones. The key question to address? How far is too far?

Providing Data: Revealing the Spheres of Trust

Acxiom conducted a survey of more than 3,000 individuals in the U.S., the UK and Germany, as well as in-depth interviews with individuals across all three countries and China. We set out to find people’s comfort levels when it comes to providing organizations with different types of data, who they are comfortable providing it to, and their thoughts concerning how that data is then used.

People’s comfort levels vary when sharing data. But those levels differ depending on location and types of data. Our report delivers insight by focusing on the following:

  • Dissecting the “Three Spheres of Trust”

  • Exploring trust issues in different parts of the world

  • Providing recommendations to maintain customer confidence
