Acxiom is pleased to announce that Brandy Walsh, Data Ethics Privacy Attorney, earned her Privacy Law Specialist designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
The IAPP is the world’s largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community. It is accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) to certify lawyers in the specialty area of U.S. Privacy Law. The certification is the first of its kind offered by the IAPP and Privacy Law is the 15th specialty ever to be accredited by the ABA.
With the increasing importance for legal teams to be well versed on the rapidly evolving area of privacy law, this designation demonstrates that Acxiom has distinguish itself from the crowd to remain at the forefront of this legal field. Acxiom and Walsh will join other leaders in a key intersection of policy, law and technology to continue to blaze the trail in privacy and compliance.
Walsh is amongst the 70 attorneys nationwide that have received the designation. In her time at Acxiom, she has held a broad range of responsibilities from the negotiation of data acquisition and commercial contracts to the development of code for Acxiom’s identity resolution products. She is responsible for assisting the Chief Data Ethics Officer in privacy-related legislative interpretation; privacy impact assessments; and data sourcing resolution.
The credential is available to attorneys admitted to a U.S. state bar who pass the CIPP/US exam, as well as either the CIPM or the CIPT. Those wishing to attain “specialist” status must submit evidence of their practice in the field of privacy law, as well as proof of attending privacy law CLEs and letters of reference from at least five peers — typically, from other attorneys.
